Jose L. –
Great piece, this specific 6R is running +5.2 seconds per day. Wears extremely well with the 39mm size, and pairs great with leather or bracelet.
Alex Stewart –
Simplemente exquisito.
Alex Stewart –
This watch is the perfect size. It looks like a Rolex! Feels great. Holds time. Seiko has been a family tradition of style and luxury without paying a premium. MIJ watches are great. Don’t let the critics decide. Add this to your collection!I wanted an Air King and got this instead obviously to save money. Glad I did.
Jorge Mendoza –
replaced the metal bracelet with a Colarab leather strap and it’ great. I have an Omega Speedy and Aquaterra, and this one gets more wrist time. The one I got might as well be COSC at it drifts by 1-2 secs a day.

Godofredo Bulhões de Carvalho Brazzalotto –
Demora no suporte.
DH –
This is a great watch! Looks amazing… had it for a month now. It’s a great every day carry. I think it’s going to be very dependable.. gives you a little class even in work clothes
DH –
Nice watch. Very attractive. Deep green color.
Cliente de Amazon –
A beautiful product, but the steel bracelet is basically unusable. The quality is terrible—when you wear it, it feels like you have a soda can on your wrist, and the sound is unbearable. However, once I swapped the strap, the watch became perfect.
Steve –
Versatile, rugged, and classy. A true GADA (Go anywher do anything) watch. It can be dressed up or down. Perfect dimensions, and even works on smaller wrist. Can’t beat Seiko’s brand quality.
FAUSTO FRANCO –
Gracias

I can remember when I hesitated to buy a $70 Timex watch from a Target store, so this was not a casual purchase for me.My birthday was coming up and I figured that I could splurge. After several candidates and hours of YouTube videos, I chose this model. I believe that I have made the right choice. This watch was quickly sized to my 6 1/2 inch wrist by removing three links. With only two micro adjustments, I was nervous, but no problem. This watch fits perfectly and is very comfortable.Operationally, I set this watch hacked to my atomic wall clock two weeks ago and it is about 10 seconds fast today. I figure I’ll unscrew the crown and reset the time when I gets 20 or so seconds fast, so this watch is better than most of my mechanical models.Visually, this is a handsome watch. The dial can appear different depending on the light and the angle that it is viewed. It can appear brilliant green, to grey, to almost black. I like this variance. So far, I have no regrets and feel this was a great purchase.
Albert G. Smith Jr. –
The Alpinist is the correct size. At 37.7 mm diameter 46 mm lug to lug and 13 mm thick, this is just right. I like the 20 bar water resistance made most secure by the screw down crown. If you are looking for the heft and feel of the OG stainless steel watch with a three link bracelet and a date, this is the ticket. The pebble finish dial that gets slightly darker as it goes out to the railroad minute track works extremely well with the gilt cathedral hands. The painted even Arabic markers complement the colors perfectly. In despite of the vintage look of the dial furniture, the hands and pips on the minute track glow a satisfyingly modern blue in the dark. The display back reveals a workmanlike movement with good performance. The striped rotor is a nice touch. The hacking Seiko 6R35 movement keeps time well within specifications and the 70 hour power reserve means it will sit for a weekend without need for setting on Monday.Case polishing and finish is very good. The twin button clasp is small and neat, including two micro adjustment holes. The bracelet was easy to size and all links are solid. The bracelet has half links and one should be able to size it correctly. If you don’t like a bracelet, it would do well on a strap due to the adequate lug length. This watch is an excellent all around choice for someone needing a go anywhere do anything watch. You will find this watch as appropriate in an office as it is on a hike. The Alpinist is a great value and with Seiko’s reputation for reliable performance, I anticipate many years of enjoyment from my watch.

Meac731025 –
This is my 2nd monster! Like it a lot. The only issue I have with it is that the pins in bracelet come loose.
Raimundo Júnior –

Avid watch collector and this one is a great diver/tool watch. Time is spot on so far and wears well (7.5” wrist). NOT a sapphire crystal as described (Hardlex Mineral). First I own that isn’t sapphire so will see how it holds up.
J –

I don’t typically take the time to write a review on a product, but this is an exception. Thank you Seiko, for updating and reintroducing a timeless classic! In 1983 I received the H558 for graduation, and literally wore it everyday for close to 20 years. I went through 3 rubber wrist bands and several batteries during this time. I never really got on the “Arnie” bandwagon, because I already owned the watch before I saw it in the movies. I remember seeing it and thought, “hey, he’s got MY watch!” I remember the watch being pretty expensive, up around the $500 mark. Which back then, was quite a bit of money, especially for a high school kid.I don’t wear a watch as a fashion statement. To me a watch is an indispensable tool that I relied on and wore every day and night, no matter what I was doing. Rock climbing, diving, snorkeling, cave exploring, boating, biking, surveying, etc. For it’s 3rd or 4th battery change (I can’t remember), I sent it to Seiko to have them go through it, replace the seals and install a new battery sometime in the late 90’s. I’m glad I did, because apparently they stopped making that model in 2000. Once that battery died, I retired the watch because I was tired of dealing with the battery change every 3-4 years. I opted for their dive watch with the automatic jeweled movement. I was very happy with that model for many years, but it began losing quite a bit of time, like 2-3 minutes a day. I missed the accuracy of my old watch, but didn’t want to have to deal with the batteries.I discovered that Seiko brought out a new watch last year, with the same look, feel and operation as my old one… I bought it immediately! Knowing my history with the old watch, here is my take on the new one: I absolutely could not be more pleased with it. Size wise, the new watch is a small amount larger diameter than the old one. The screw down push buttons and crown are a little more obtrusive than the old one, which makes it look even bigger. However, they are very user friendly and function well. I like the screw locks on the buttons, because it protects them from being accidently pushed and changing the mode the watch is in. The LCD screen works just as well as the old one, but the new watch has a much brighter LED light in it. The functions are the same as the original, with multiple time settings, day/date, stopwatch and alarm. The new silicon band is much more comfortable and forgiving over the old band material. My wrists are kind of small, but the new watch, being even larger than the old one, wears well and is very comfortable. I think the thing that I am most excited about is the fact that it is solar powered. In the pictures (old watch on the left), you can kind of see the face of the new one being a little off black, or brownish, so that is apparently the solar panel. I find that it charges quickly, even under office lights, and has a readout that tells you the battery level. So if it is running low, go outside and do something! It has the accuracy of a fine quartz movement, without ever having to change the battery, ever again. In closing, there are many brand names with flashier watches, and more expensive automatic jeweled, solar or kinetic movements, but I consider this to be a durable “working” tool with a long heritage. Seiko is the only brand watch that I will buy, and only time will tell if this one can withstand the daily abuse I plan to put it through. But if it is anywhere near the quality of the old one, I have confidence it will last me a lifetime. Thank you Seiko!

I have a small Citizen collection for everyday wear and a casio DW for work. I’ve always wanted to add a Seiko but witch one?I went with the stunning Seiko prospex famously known from Predator. An absolute gem. Fits every style.Solid build, confy, solar powered, rotating/push crowns, digital display with lighting and easy to set up. The watch goes into sleeping mode in a dark environment to save on energy. The watch itself is not as bulky as it seems. Bracelet is smooth but slightly long. Fits my small wrist perfectly. Love that watch!

I got the Blue version, SRPL51K1. I do really like this watch and it will serve it’s purpose for me as a daily wear so I don’t push the maintenance/service time on my much nicer watches, but there’re things i like, and dislike about it.PROS: Coming in at a 41.7mm, It wears big on my 7.5″ wrist and wears more like a 43mm to 44mm which I really like. The sharp downward angle on the lugs, and the nice blue color is awesome. The bracelet links are noticeably nicer than on my Seiko SSK023. It’s an Automatic movement, which I also really like at this price point and it’s kept time nicely so far.CONS (in my humble opinion): If you’re like me, and adjust the bracelet to your wrist size yourself, you’ll find out that this bracelet utilizes a pin & collar system which I’m not a fan of. Makes it more difficult to change out the links and it’s the only watch I have in my extensive collection that utilizes that system. The clasp on the bracelet is typical Seiko quality which is maybe a 2 out of 5 which is disappointing as it sounds and feels cheap. At a $500-$600 price point, I expect better. The Seiko Proprietary Hardlex Crystal is nice, but I’d like to see a Sapphire Crystal in this one. Hardlex is more prone to stretches, but still not a bad option at all.Overall, This watch is worth the purchase!!
Samuel B Parker II –
Really disappointed with this watch. Have had three other Seiko watches and liked all. This one does not hold a “charge” over 8-10 hours and gains about 3-4 minutes a day. Neither should happen on a watch of this price and reputation. I’m wearing it less and less and just leave it in the winder.
Jim –
Loving this beauty. It replaced a Tag divers watch and fits and looks wonderful. As others have said, it comes with many links. I have skinny wrists and removed 5 to make it work for me. I bought an inexpensive watch link removal kit for $10 which was a lifesaver.JOREST Watch Link Removal Kit

The best sport diver on the market under $500. First off the movement out of the box is extremely accurate for this price point. Mine has been on my wrist now for 7 days straight and it’s is moving only 25 seconds slow. Pretty incredible considering the 4r36 movement inside is rated at -35/+45 seconds a day. Much better than I had expected.I had the srp777 (the black version) 4 years ago and loved it, a watch I always regretted letting go. This time around I went for the Pepsi padi version the srpe99. This is a perfect go anywhere sport watch. From the beach with the sd crown and 200m water resistant or throw on a leather strap and head out to dinner. For sure on the sportier side maybe not the best choice for a black tie event but perfect summer watch, vacation watch, fun watch. The finishing on the case is spot on, the lume is INCREDIBLE. Seiko lume wow. You just can’t beat the vintage case design paired with the modern movement. There is something about the cool factor of Seiko you just can’t put into words. If this is your first “real watch” purchase or you are a seasoned collector you can’t go wrong. This is sit proudly in your collection by itself, next to a timex quartz, or next to your Rolex sub.I got a micro brand field Watch for Christmas and I love it, but I find the Seiko just won’t leave my wrist. It’s watch that’s truly fun to wear.Case size: I prefer my divers as small as 38mm or a large as 42mm generally. My field and dress watches I’ll even go smaller. My Hamilton khaki 38mm gets a lot of wrist time as well a great all around watch, so I do like smaller watches. But this one at 45 wears MUCH smaller. If you prefer smaller watches don’t let the 45mm case size detour you. The vintage styling and the turtle case shape are beautiful, with the shorter lug to lug it wears smaller. Trust me coming from a guy who enjoys small watches this one at 45 is perfect. If they offered this In a 42 or 40 I would stillPrefer this case design at 45.Bracelet- honestly watch more can you ask for. It looks nice it wears nice and at this price point more attention should and did go into the case design of the watch than the bracelet. Yes a told sub or there are some micro brands out there that will come with nicer bracelets. But at this price point I don’t think you can get a better overall package. Sure you could find a watch out there under $500 with a nicer bracelet but you just can’t buy the Seiko charm. The bracelet works and wears well and I will not be upgrading the bracelet. But if you’re really looking for a next level bracelet…uncle Seiko or strap code has some options. I’m going to buy a leather strap for it and the Seiko rubber dive strap. There are other “nicer” straps offered but my srp777 came standard with the rubber and it was one of my most favorite rubber straps in my collection. The lume is amazing, the crown and thick and easy to operate. The applied indices, the bezel actions is great and they line up.What more can I say….sure you could fine nicer individual components…..a watch with a nicer bracelet or maybe one with a sapphire crystal at this price. But the larger picture under 500 you just can’t buy a better watch. This one has it all.

Great looking watch at a great price. The green dial is striking under some light, and the gold accents pair well with the overall aesthetic of the watch. The face was a little smaller in person than I expected, but that’s definitely not a bad thing. For reference, my wrist is about 16 cm at the location where the watch would sit.The main downside is the strap it comes with, as it’s very stiff and cheap feeling.

just made it to 8 months of daily wear with my alpinist that i bought in january. I have owned 1 or 2 automatics previous watches previously, but I was a mainly a Solar Quartz type of guy. i just like a level of accuracy that, up until now, automatics didnt really provide. The alpinist has proven to me its absolutely INSANE levels of accuracy and durability. It is bulletproof, period. The accuracy is excellent, period. It is, to me, the ultimate 1 watch to go anywhere and do anything.DESIGN – The time is very legible and quick to read even at a quick glance. for me, only the even number indices being arabic numerals just helps. maybe it is just me. Lume blew me away, I didnt realize that the lume was gonna be that good. Lumibrite aint no Super Luminova. at least none that i have seen. The compass is made fun of, and i can get it. I had thought it was like some form of magnetic compass and that the lower crown was a button, but thats not it at all. Its just a free spinning wheel that rotates the inner bezel. I set it along indices to mark the day of the week so it does have use to me. you can of course use this like any other bezel like on a dive watch, and you can mark whatever or use it to remember whatever you want. Since it is a free spinning bezel with no lock, it can spin out of place, however. just something to consider. As for the strap. Well… i dont like it. i replaced it with a nylon strap. it is 20mm so the world is yours when it comes to straps and bracelets. one thing i did note was that the alpinist does NOT like quick release bars. They like to get stuck and twist and pull on the strap. The alpinist does come with spring bars, but i went ahead and ordered some big boy thick durable ones and all my bar problems went away.DURABILITY – my type of work is not in the office. it involves being pretty physical, and i have not gained the first scratch on my crystal. the sapphire is excellent. I have acquired plenty of scratches on the polished stainless steel, though. i live with it okay, but polished stainless would not let the scratches stand out as well. otherwise, the diashock movement is bulletproof, and i have had ZERO issues with durabilityTHE MOVEMENT – If you do any research online, you will find that some people complain about the 6R35. Their main complaints being the accuracy ratings from Seiko, and Positional Variance. IN MY EXPERIENCE, i have had extremely precise levels of accuracy. I figured out by setting my watch, fully wound, down in different positions, that setting my watch down flat gains about 5 to 6 seconds per day. when i set my watch upright, or vertical, it loses about 5 seconds per day. so what i just do is if i see my watch is running fast, i set it down upright, and if its slow, set it flat. this has let me keep accuracy within 5 seconds for incredible periods of time for an automatic. I accidentally pulled the crown out all the way changing the date to the first for July. I last pulled it out february. it blows my mind. the gshock and f91w that i set to keep track of perfect time, i have had to set multiple times before i had to pull the crown out of the alpinist.Keeping the watch fully wound, worn everyday, and placed in the right positions has given me incredible results. now, if i remove the crown for any reason, i have noticed it wanting to run a bit faster than usual, and i wouldnt call it unpredictable, but it is definitely different. i assume what people do is set the time, see its fast, and just set it because thats what you do with an automatic, then it got set again and now its gonna run silly for like a day or two. if that was all i saw for results, i would call it inaccurate too. I say all of this because i believe it matters a great deal how you are gonna wear this watch. This is my one single, EDC, Go anywhere do anything, watch that i rarely rotate. the power reserve will let you rotate a day or two of other watches, but this watch works best if you never let it die or be reset. it gives you the ability to do that, in what i have seen, but is that right for you? thats up to you. if i rotated many watches and it may be a while before i wear this watch again, maybe i would say its not worth it.all in all, for me, this watch is PERFECT. this watch has been so good its flipped my opinion of automatics as a whole. if this is gonna be your 1 watch that you have forever, this will do you right.
