I got the Blue version, SRPL51K1. I do really like this watch and it will serve it’s purpose for me as a daily wear so I don’t push the maintenance/service time on my much nicer watches, but there’re things i like, and dislike about it.PROS: Coming in at a 41.7mm, It wears big on my 7.5″ wrist and wears more like a 43mm to 44mm which I really like. The sharp downward angle on the lugs, and the nice blue color is awesome. The bracelet links are noticeably nicer than on my Seiko SSK023. It’s an Automatic movement, which I also really like at this price point and it’s kept time nicely so far.CONS (in my humble opinion): If you’re like me, and adjust the bracelet to your wrist size yourself, you’ll find out that this bracelet utilizes a pin & collar system which I’m not a fan of. Makes it more difficult to change out the links and it’s the only watch I have in my extensive collection that utilizes that system. The clasp on the bracelet is typical Seiko quality which is maybe a 2 out of 5 which is disappointing as it sounds and feels cheap. At a $500-$600 price point, I expect better. The Seiko Proprietary Hardlex Crystal is nice, but I’d like to see a Sapphire Crystal in this one. Hardlex is more prone to stretches, but still not a bad option at all.Overall, This watch is worth the purchase!!

Really disappointed with this watch. Have had three other Seiko watches and liked all. This one does not hold a “charge” over 8-10 hours and gains about 3-4 minutes a day. Neither should happen on a watch of this price and reputation. I’m wearing it less and less and just leave it in the winder.

Loving this beauty. It replaced a Tag divers watch and fits and looks wonderful. As others have said, it comes with many links. I have skinny wrists and removed 5 to make it work for me. I bought an inexpensive watch link removal kit for $10 which was a lifesaver.JOREST Watch Link Removal Kit

I ordered this as an “Amazon Prime Try Before You Buy” deal. Honestly, when I ordered it I had no intention of keeping it. My daily wear watch was a Seiko SKX013, which I had chosen because I was concerned that a larger dive watch would look silly on my 6 and 5/8” wrist. But after 8 months with the SKX013, I started to think that it might be nice to have a watch with a larger dial that didn’t look so short and squat. Plus the only straps that I liked wearing it on were some unusual curved rubber ones. So I ordered the SRP777, which is a much larger Seiko diver, just to see how it would fit. When I opened it up, I was immediately impressed by how legible the dial was in comparison to my own watch. The thick lume on the markers gave it a nice layered look that my old watch was lacking. Otherwise, the dial looked comfortably familiar, even down to the beloved “blue Saturday” of the SKX. But it did look big. How would it wear? Well, when I tried it on, I was shocked by how well it looked and felt on my wrist. Much better than my old smaller watch, in fact. I attribute this to the rounded cushion shape and very short lugs. It sits nice and flat on my wrist with no overhang, despite the much larger width and slightly longer lug to lug length. It is definitely large and heavy, but not unnecessarily so. It has a simple and utilitarian look to it, with absolutely nothing flashy or eye catching. Yet it has a subtly elegant shape and curve to it that I really admire. And a nice level of finishing that makes me feel like I am wearing a quality watch. As far as the strap goes, it is significantly softer and more flexible than the old plastic feeling rubber straps that came with the SKX. The stainless buckle and keeper are a bit bolder than I prefer, and I am not a fan of the bulky wave strap look, but for now it’s comfortable and wears just fine. Eventually I will swap it out for a real Tropic strap, which will be a great match for this reissued classic. After a week of daily wear, it was about 35 seconds off, so accurate enough for my needs. So yes, I am very pleased with this watch, and have a new daily wearer. If you are a smaller wristed person that can’t find a dive watch that fits right, you might want to give this one a try. Of course Seiko also makes the “mini turtle”, but I don’t think it’s really that much smaller than this one, and lacks the vintage look and guarded 4 o’clock crown. The “slim turtle” looks great, but costs about 3x as much. This is a great deal.UPDATE 13 months later: I have worn this watch everyday since buying it. This includes an entire season of beach lifeguarding, which is not easy on watches. It has been in and out of the salt water many times a day, covered in sand while working out on the beach, slapped on my wrist over greasy chemical sunscreen, worn while picking up heavy sandy things and people and moving them around, and it has held up marvelously. The stainless steel case and the hardlex crystal have both proven remarkably scratch resistant. Running at about -10 seconds/day, acceptable. No regrets!

A mídia não pôde ser carregada. This is my favorite watch right now. I work in emergency medicine and am hard on my stuff. I firstly love that this is an ode to the Vietnam era Seiko “Turtle” reference 6309, but available new without buying on the used market. It is the first watch I have owned that gets comments. It is a tool watch. The water resistance is superb. The reserve battery life is less than advertised, but adequate for a daily wearer. The watch runs approximately 15 seconds fast per every 24hours, which is better than running slow. The hands make very good movements stopping on the indices at precise marks/intervals.I wish a dive compass fit on the band without changing out for a NATO strap, but on that note, the band it comes with is very comfortable. I have bashed it and thoroughly washed it and there are no marks on it. I wear it to work, the gym, everywhere right now. I love the sweeping second hand motion, and the sound when you put it up to your ear. It makes taking timed assessments easy in critical situations.I will end up wearing another watch with Arabic induces in the future for quick time recording, but I will not part with this watch. It is my first Seiko, and it’s kind of a gateway drug for a new watch collector. A great buy at the price. Highly recommend.

Great looking watch at a great price. The green dial is striking under some light, and the gold accents pair well with the overall aesthetic of the watch. The face was a little smaller in person than I expected, but that’s definitely not a bad thing. For reference, my wrist is about 16 cm at the location where the watch would sit.The main downside is the strap it comes with, as it’s very stiff and cheap feeling.

just made it to 8 months of daily wear with my alpinist that i bought in january. I have owned 1 or 2 automatics previous watches previously, but I was a mainly a Solar Quartz type of guy. i just like a level of accuracy that, up until now, automatics didnt really provide. The alpinist has proven to me its absolutely INSANE levels of accuracy and durability. It is bulletproof, period. The accuracy is excellent, period. It is, to me, the ultimate 1 watch to go anywhere and do anything.DESIGN – The time is very legible and quick to read even at a quick glance. for me, only the even number indices being arabic numerals just helps. maybe it is just me. Lume blew me away, I didnt realize that the lume was gonna be that good. Lumibrite aint no Super Luminova. at least none that i have seen. The compass is made fun of, and i can get it. I had thought it was like some form of magnetic compass and that the lower crown was a button, but thats not it at all. Its just a free spinning wheel that rotates the inner bezel. I set it along indices to mark the day of the week so it does have use to me. you can of course use this like any other bezel like on a dive watch, and you can mark whatever or use it to remember whatever you want. Since it is a free spinning bezel with no lock, it can spin out of place, however. just something to consider. As for the strap. Well… i dont like it. i replaced it with a nylon strap. it is 20mm so the world is yours when it comes to straps and bracelets. one thing i did note was that the alpinist does NOT like quick release bars. They like to get stuck and twist and pull on the strap. The alpinist does come with spring bars, but i went ahead and ordered some big boy thick durable ones and all my bar problems went away.DURABILITY – my type of work is not in the office. it involves being pretty physical, and i have not gained the first scratch on my crystal. the sapphire is excellent. I have acquired plenty of scratches on the polished stainless steel, though. i live with it okay, but polished stainless would not let the scratches stand out as well. otherwise, the diashock movement is bulletproof, and i have had ZERO issues with durabilityTHE MOVEMENT – If you do any research online, you will find that some people complain about the 6R35. Their main complaints being the accuracy ratings from Seiko, and Positional Variance. IN MY EXPERIENCE, i have had extremely precise levels of accuracy. I figured out by setting my watch, fully wound, down in different positions, that setting my watch down flat gains about 5 to 6 seconds per day. when i set my watch upright, or vertical, it loses about 5 seconds per day. so what i just do is if i see my watch is running fast, i set it down upright, and if its slow, set it flat. this has let me keep accuracy within 5 seconds for incredible periods of time for an automatic. I accidentally pulled the crown out all the way changing the date to the first for July. I last pulled it out february. it blows my mind. the gshock and f91w that i set to keep track of perfect time, i have had to set multiple times before i had to pull the crown out of the alpinist.Keeping the watch fully wound, worn everyday, and placed in the right positions has given me incredible results. now, if i remove the crown for any reason, i have noticed it wanting to run a bit faster than usual, and i wouldnt call it unpredictable, but it is definitely different. i assume what people do is set the time, see its fast, and just set it because thats what you do with an automatic, then it got set again and now its gonna run silly for like a day or two. if that was all i saw for results, i would call it inaccurate too. I say all of this because i believe it matters a great deal how you are gonna wear this watch. This is my one single, EDC, Go anywhere do anything, watch that i rarely rotate. the power reserve will let you rotate a day or two of other watches, but this watch works best if you never let it die or be reset. it gives you the ability to do that, in what i have seen, but is that right for you? thats up to you. if i rotated many watches and it may be a while before i wear this watch again, maybe i would say its not worth it.all in all, for me, this watch is PERFECT. this watch has been so good its flipped my opinion of automatics as a whole. if this is gonna be your 1 watch that you have forever, this will do you right.

most of you already know this if you’re contemplating buying this watch, it’s extremely beautiful. and seiko did a great job designing a unique dial face for this special padi commemorative. i was skeptical about that dial face, but when i opened the box…wow! so glad i purchased it. the only negative about this watch is the bracelet. it’s huge. i don’t know if everyone gets the same length bracelet but i could slid mine on over my ham size fist without opening the bracelet. the micro adjustment positions were useless to try and snug up the fit. that’s a long band. first stop before wearing…a jeweler to take some links out. mine needed 4 links removed. i have a chunky fat wrist, i’ve never measured it around, so…yeah, this bracelet is very long.i’ve had this a week and absolutely love everything about it. it looks great. enough enhancements, special dial face, green color and padi logo. i’ve heard the bracelet was given a tweak or two as well for this 60th anniversary padi edition. don’t know about that for sure. this diver took my breath away when i opened the seiko branded box for the first time. i love dive watches but what really can you do to make one stand out from the next one…take an in person look at this seiko to find out.i’m happy with the performance of the watch. a good dive watch needs a screw down stem, this has one. and beefy ears on each side to protect that stem from being damaged if the watch is hit on something while diving. the luminescent hands and markers are eye blinding. you’ll have no problem seeing them at night or with dim light while underwater. and the bracelet closes with a positive click and locks for security. as with every seiko diver, you’ll need to squeeze in the two tabs to unlock the bracelet clasp. obviously not burglar proof, but enough security that it won’t unlock and slip off the wrist. like many who own this watch, i’m not thrilled with the calendar, it’s position on the watch face, 4:30, and it’s tiny size. the date numerals are really miniscule. my old eyes can’t see the calendar even with reading glasses on. in fact, anyone exanimating my watch doesn’t see it on first inspection. that tiny hole needs to be pointed out to people. the movement is decent for a watch in this price point. while no expert in watch movements, i’m happy with this ones performance. yeah, i’ve only had this a week but frankly, after reading some internet comments, i actually expected this watch to need a little adjustment at the end of that week. no, nothing. it may have lost a second or two, i dunno, but certainly not that expected minute or more. needless to say i’m pleased and of course time will tell. pun intended!and nothing to do with performance…when i had my bracelet resized, i went to the only close by jewelry store near me and it was a fairly high end shop. it was fun to see the sales staff react to seeing this watch for the first time. the person who unboxed my watch called several of his colleagues over to take a look. they were all impressed with the look and beauty of this seiko diver. i heard very positive comments all around. this shop sells some seriously high end watches but no seikos.i’m very pleased with this seiko padi edition diver. performance, looks…the whole package. i think this is a lot of watch for the pricepoint. no buyers remorse here.

Beautiful watch and keeps good time. The bezel is a little hard to turn as it is thin with very fine knurling making it hard to get a good grip. It’s easy to turn though with sticky fingers.

Solid watch as all Seikos are. Just bought me this green PRX PADI Certified and I recently I had bought the brother of this one I with the black dial. Stunningly beautiful watches. I usually wear my automatics alternately so they stay charged. They are bulky but not as bulky as my Invictas which I also love. Do look closely at it and you’ll see an ocean wave pattern on the dial that was a pleasant surprise.
