Jim –
I like that this mineral sunscreen has both Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide which are both FDA approved. Typically zinc oxide should be between 10 to 25% while titanium dioxide should be between 5-15%. So, the issue that I have is that the percentages shown for this product is only 4 to 4.5% which seemingly makes it much less effective as a sunscreen, especially one supposedly rated for SPF 50. At this percentage, it seems to be more like SPF 15 or possible SPF 30 combined with other ingredients.
At least it has both minerals for a total of 9.5% of active ingredients. That gives it a broader spectrum of coverage against UVA rays as well as UVB range.
The Velvet –
I prefer mineral sunscreens over chemical and this brand gets it right with their active ingredients. I put some on in the morning, went for a job, came back and it did just as it promises and kept me protected despite the sun wanting to sizzle me like bacon
It smells…fine? It goes on smooth, isn’t too thick or thin and soaks in deep so I don’t feel like I’ve been dipped in grease
This is a must-have for Summer
Mountain Mama –
This is the perfect sunscreen for me. I spend a lot of time at a natural lake in the summer so my sunscreen must be reef safe and have a high SPF, this sunscreen fits the bill. This Warrior 50 SPF sunscreen is ready to take on the sun and the water. As a mineral sunscreen with zinc and titanium it has a very light cast on the skin but it does not have any of the bad chemical ingredients that I avoid. Creamy, spreads easily and soaks in quickly, a little goes a long way. This sunscreen has an 80 minute water resistant formula so I can hang out on that float without worrying about getting burned. Also unscented, thank you. Great price and as a bonus, made in the USA, great product!
Amazon Customer –
I’m not terribly picky about sunscreen (at least for the body). As long as it keeps me and my family from burning, I’m good. That being said, I’m not sure I’ve used a mineral sunscreen before, so this was likely a first.
There’s plenty good to say about this sunscreen. It’s made in the USA (for those who that matters to), it’s free from articial fragrances, parabens and synthetics (making it better for sensitive skin) and it’s mineral based (as opposed to chemically based) and better for the environment, as it’s biodegradable.
The texture is a thin, slightly liquidy cream. It goes on smoothly with little rubbing required to get it to absorb, unlike many brands. It doesn’t leave a white cast to my skin, though I’m naturally quite pale, so it’s not as obvious on me. It left a matte look to my skin, which I think would be preferable to many people rather than the greasy look some sunscreens create.
While this could be used on the face (same as all sunscreens, unless otherwise noted), I’m not sure if I would use this on the face or stick to a dedicated facial sunscreen. This is much heavier than most full-body sunscreens I’ve tried before and I don’t want it breaking me out (even though I almost never get breakouts).
As a sunscreen, this seems to work fine. I haven’t been near the ocean or other large bodies of water, so I can’t speak to its effectiveness for water sports or being out in the sun with it reflecting off the water all day. I can say that for the daily use I tested it for (in preparation for a vacation we’re going on), it seemed to work well.
Honestly, I prefer spray sunscreens, but it’s recommended not to use them, as it’s hard to get even, adequately thick coverage. They’re so much more convenient than a lotion like this, but that’s just personal preference and I’d prefer not getting skin cancer over having to deal with smearing sunscreen all over mine and my children’s bodies.
My only real complaint is that the bottle is small (not terribly much smaller than many readily available drugstore brands, but still small) and I’m not sure how long it will last, especially if I also use it on my children.

JHrunning –
I’ve been using this mineral sunscreen for hikes and outdoor runs, and it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. The non-nano zinc and titanium formula gives me peace of mind, and I love that it’s reef-safe and gentle on my sensitive skin. No irritation, no weird scent, and it stays put even during sweaty workouts. It also blends better than most mineral sunscreens I’ve tried—non-greasy and non-sticky. Feels protective without the heavy mask effect. Definitely a reliable option for anyone active outdoors.
