Using a tinted eyebrow gel was new for me, so I had to try it a few times when I wasn’t planning to leave the house right away. Once I got the hang of it, and figured out the best look for my eyebrows, I fell in love! For me, the best technique is using the gel to lightly brush back my brows in the opposite direction of how they grow. That deposits pigment, but does not put the color on my skin. Then I use the pencil to fill in the strokes. The pencil, for me, is just too dry and hard, so it makes it tough to be precise. Overall, it’s a great product. I have color #04, which can be a little dark for my complexion if I don’t apply it carefully. The tiny brush size for the gel really gets the job done.

I am used to using either a thin angled brush for applying powder, or a sharp, pointed eyebrow pencil to fill in my brows. I was a bit thrown off by this slanted applicator tip. The pigment is fine and the color is nice (albeit very dark so you have to be incredibly light-handed), but I just could not get the strokes fine enough to make my brows look natural. They looked really dark and cartoonish no matter what I tried.
The gel, on the hand, is a nice formula and easy enough to apply. Looks good with my dark brown hair!

I do get my brows microbladed, but as the year goes on – prior to my annual touch up – my brows start to fade, so I tend to need to fill in my brows some, until I get them touched up. Personally, I did like the pencil tip end of this dual ended eyebrow pen. It filled in well and the color looked good with my brows and my hair color. The match was perfect! However, I personally felt the gel was a bit more than I’m used to or like. While it did help keep my brows in place, it just made them too stiff, once it set and dried.
I think for most, it’s likely a hit, but for me, I only liked one side of the pen – and that was the pen(cil) end of it.
Rose –
This ash brown is a cool toned deep brown, which is exactly what I was hoping for. I have dark blonde hair but my brows are almost black, and many brow products look way too warm-toned on me. The wand end coats the hairs and makes them richly colored, and the other end has the pencil, which applies smoothly and lays down an amazing amount of color quickly. It’s very pigmented. I tried both and discovered that I can use one or the other and achieve my goals, and don’t need to use both. So this is a great buy if you’re trying to decide which type of brow product would be best for you. It also lasts very well and doesn’t smear at all once it’s dry. I have sensitive skin, and I have had no problems wearing this. Great brow product, and great color.

I think that most brow pencils have a bit of a learning curve, and this one is no different. However, once I worked on my technique I really liked it! The pencil part goes on pretty smoothly, but it is bold. I had to take a lighter hand than I normally do with other drug store brands I’ve used so as not to look too angry with the effect. The pencil is slanted in a way that you can use the longer end for wider strokes, and the fine tip for more precision. I liked that it came with gel as well, but mine was pretty sparse in the gel department and I’m not sure how many uses it’ll last me for. Regardless, having the spool there, even without the gel, is really helpful for just brushing the brow hair up in the right direction. Overall I would consider this a good product for the price point.
