This is a dracula movie done well. If not already one of the best ever made films that’s a re~make of the original. It’s definitely worth having adding to your collection. I purchased the bluray because of the great deal l got on it from Amazon. I eventually want get the 4K version which will really make a difference on the big screen at home. It’s a tribute to how films were and should be made without all the glitz and CGI that’s become mainstream with making today’s movies. Not to say that some are done really well when others are over tbe top relying heavily on effects that can make for unrealistic movie watching.

I like this movie. Saw it on Christmas day with a group of family and friends. Don’t buy much physical media anymore,
but every once and a awhile there’s an exception. I received an amazon gift card (for Christmas) and put it to use, and receive a crushed damaged product. This is why I don’t like buying on Amazon anymore! Christ the movie has only been out on Blu-Ray since Feb. 18th and the only one they could send was the one stepped or sat on. This is crap. 70% of the
time in the last 15 months I’ve had to either return my purchases, or it is the wrong item! Whether you pay for Prime or not, you are paying for shipping which should include care in handling, and this is just unsatisfactory. The hassle of always having to return an item has grown absurd with a lack of customer care or consideration, safe bet stick to toilet paper purchases.

I enjoyed the movie — beautifully shot, and a nice, ‘grounded’ approach to depicting the vampyr.
The film does some great things with language that I didn’t expect. Eggers makes use of Romanian, and also Romani (gypsy) language — it’s very distinct, and I was glad to see that.
And then — Count Orlock (Nosferatu) speaks in a reconstructed Dacian language, that Eggers consulted with a Romanian scholar. It’s like ancient Romanian mixed with Latin — so that was cool.
BUT, despite all this careful fidelity to language… The main characters are supposed to be German. A good portion of the film takes place in Germany. But the main characters all speak with English accents. WHY????, given all the prior attention to a correct use of language? Honestly, I found it really distracting. If the principals spoke with German accents, this would have been awesome. So — I’m docking a star for this inconsistency.

Watched the movie. Wow well done but there were a couple of scenes that reminded me of the Exorcist. A very creepy movie of the gothic type similar to the films Hammer used to put out. The vampire was definitely not Dracula nor the vampire of the silent film of 1922. He almost looked like someone’s grandfather but his voice sent chills down your spine. The actors were all great and very professional. Definitely an R Rated movie not for the language because the language did not have any swear words but because of the graphic nature of many of the scenes. Overall a very well made very gothic creepy vampire movie that I think was more of a thinking person’s movie than a real horror. The horror was there but it does not jump out at you like so many of today’s horror movies. Watch both versions the theatrical and extended cut to get the overall feel of the characters and film. The sets were outstanding and the mood ominous.
