I always get compliments when I wear these colours beetles has such a great range for everyone and every occasion

I should’ve know it was too good to be true with a price like that. Been doing gel nails at home for a while without issues, started using Beetles a few months ago and my last 2 sets have been incredibly itchy, red and swollen. Did a bit of research and come to the conclusion I’ve formed an allergy to gel polish.
My nails are lifting from their nail beds, they’re burnt (even after using sunscreen) and discoloured – I have totally destroyed my nails using this product.
Picture attached was after the first reaction, they’re much worse after the second as I didn’t realise what was happening.

Please do yourself a favour, either go to a professional or invest in some quality nail polish. I’m devastated that this’ll now be an ongoing issue whenever I want my nails painted.

I typically buy Sensationail brand gel polishes since I have the Sensationail starter kit with LED light, however they are much more expensive (about $9 per bottle vs about $1 per bottle, granted these bottles are smaller but I don’t mind) and I wanted to try a different brand to save money.

PROS –

* I got the Pastel Paradise set. I was pleasantly surprised to see the cute packacking and the awesome caddy the polishes come in. All the colors were labeled with a color sticker on top which is very convenient.
* The bottles are the same size as the smaller Sensational polishes so I didn’t think they were too small, especially for the price. They’re barely more than $1 each …
* I got full coverage with 2 coats of color. With Sensationail I always have to do 3 coats.
* Because the polish is so thick, it doesn’t pull away at the tips of your nails and has a very evenly opaque application.
* I was able to get a nice looking mani pedi by following the provided instructions. However, 2 steps I didn’t see listed that I always follow are to wipe your nails with a lint free cloth and alcohol to clean them after buffing and shaping them, and then use a gel primer on each nail. So I added these steps.

CONS –
* The polish is so thick. It feels goopy, kind of like regular polish that is getting dried out. That makes it difficult to apply thin coats and also difficult to apply it neatly without going on your skin. Sensationail polish is much thinner and easier to apply.
* The colors in the product description and the color on the top of the bottle do not match the actual color of the polish. As you can see from my photos, my nails are a slightly different color than the bottle. Also the colors in the description seem much brighter than in real life. However they are still very pretty shades.

I just used this polish for the first time today so I can’t speak to how long it lasts, however it seems very durable so far.

Overall I really like this set and would recommend it. You cannot beat the price for so many beautiful colors.

UPDATE after 1 week of wear – the polish chipped much more easily than Sensational brand and I only got 1 week of use versus the 2 weeks I expect from a gel polish. I’m going to try again with a set of firmer, smaller tipped nail art brushes I bought for this purpose. I think the problem was the large brushes that come with these bottles do not allow you to get the corners and tips of the nails well enough & also don’t allow you to apply a thin coat. I think this will be much more successful and will update again if I have any issues.

I’ve tried so many brands of gel nail polish and this one has been one of my favs! It dries quick, it lasts a long time, it goes on flawlessly and looks amazing! I love the color selection too!
